Saw some elephant seals on the beach and whales off the coast. T and A just thought the deals were smelly

San Francisco and into Silicon Valley
Went on the Cable Car to Union Square today. Thomas hung on the outside - Anna thought it would be potentially cold and Alison thought it potentially unsafe.
Really appreciate how hilly San Francisco is and everyone turns the front wheels of the car when parking to stop runaways.
Then off to San Jose for the night...

Cycled across the Golden Gate Bridge
Yesterday had an amazing time cycling over the bridge to Sausalito. Long wait for the ferry on the way back but sailed close to Alcatraz. No trip to Alcatraz this time as tickets booked until mid September! Simon remembers this now from last time he was here....now.
Dinner was from Plate on Pierce - amazing !

Breakfast San Francisco
About to cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito.
Having breakfast outside at Hotel del Sol - Thomas waiting for a hammock - his main interest.
Rest of the day was spent on a hop-on / hop-off bus, visiting the sea lions at Fisherman's wharf and dinner at Applebees with billions of other tourists.

Half Dome from the East of Yosemite
Long trip to San Francisco - mistakenly went East on the 120 instead of West - added about 4 hours and 120 miles to our trip. Things were stacked against us. There were road works at the junction and you couldn't see the junction if you went into the petrol station (which we did) and there was a camper van covering the road sing on the route out of the petrol station. Led to an inadvertent trip to Tuolume Meadows (worth a trip in the future) and Olmstead point (see below).
Hike to Mirror Lake
3 miles up and down hill in the heat and not a single complaint from anyone about their legs not working!
